Shingeki no Echo Train

Since writing out whole Echoes in the Info Post is gonna get a little cluttered, here's a list of all of Ryan's Echoes.

Echo Count: 28

• 23rd Echo- Power/Side Effect: Tier 2 Titan "Shifting" (Incomplete)
  After seeing Alan titan it up at the barbecue, the skin on Ryan's jaw and cheek will harden and crack into a jagged line, similar to this. Underneath the solid flesh he'll still be very... fleshy. Somehow this won't hurt, either, but it certainly won't heal. Much like a titan, he will be able to unhinge his jaw and open it as far as the crack goes (holy shit.) The second part will happen (very) slowly over time; parts of Ryan's skin will harden, becoming plated and armor-like, while the rest of his unarmored skin peels off. Thanks to the following echo, Ryan now looks like the Armored Titan.


• 27th Echo- Power/Side Effect: Titan "Shifting" (Complete)
  After being attacked by a rage-filled Alan, Ryan's skin will become hardened and begin to flake off in places, revealing raw flesh underneath.


• 18th Echo- Power/Side Effect: Glowing eyes
  After spotting the second pink flash in the sky, Ryan's eyes begin to glow an odd yellow. The glow doesn't encompass his whole eye like the Armored Titan, but it's still freaky as hell. Thanks to this, Ryan now has to wear sunglasses at all times to avoid drawing attention to his 'condition'.


• 21th Echo- Power/Side-Effect: Loss of appetite
  After seeing Ellie using 3DMG properly to zip through the air, Ryan will slowly begin to lose his appetite, culminating a complete lack of the desire to eat (or the need to) by the time his barbecue comes around.


• 15th Echo- Power/Side Effect: Titan Neck Sensitivity
  After talking to Ellie about how Titans had weak spots in the back of their necks, Ryan will regain an odd aversion to things touching the back of his neck. (Next up, titan powers like skin hardening and peeling flesh hohohoho)
  


• 14th Echo- Power: Titan Healing (active)
  After exploring the mines and rescuing Alan and Octavia from monsters, Ryan regains almost all of his healing capabilities, meaning he can now recover from major wounds, stem bloodflow (since his bloow now evaporates) and regrow limbs with large bursts of steam. As a side effect to becoming effectively more titan than human, Ryan now regains energy from the sun, too.
• 1st Echo- Power: Minor Healing (active)
  After rescuing one of his squadmates from a burning building, Ryan is badly injured but manages to heal incredibly fast, leaving him with only a scar despite having gotten a third-degree burn. He can now heal minor things consciously, the wounds themselves produce steam as they vanish.


• 12th Echo- Power: Superior Healing (active)
  After Alan mentions an echo of his where he lost limbs but knew they would grow back, Ryan will receive a power upgrade. The burn scar on his arm will suddenly be much more faded. Ryan can now consciously heal gaping wounds and fractured bones. (He won't know that until he tries it though.)


• 2nd Echo- Memory: Being a good soldier
  After inspiring Alan to take his powers seriously and fight for those who don't have the strength to do the same, Ryan remembers that same speech, that he was a soldier, and that he took his duty very seriously, inspiring others to do the same.


• 13th Echo- Memory: Reiner's Good Soldier Speech, part 2.
  After discussing the possibility of having known each other in a past life, Ryan will recall his second echo, but with renewed clarity. The heartfelt speech he gave was actually for Eren, thus confirming that he and Alan did know each other.


• 3rd Echo- Memory: Enjoying training, being well-liked
  After drinking some of tainted water (and having a laughing fit,) Ryan remembers having lots of friends in the military and bonding with them all over their shared drills, etc.


• 4th Echo- Memory: A vague memory from the attack on Shiganshina while he was the Armored Titan.
  After speaking to Bertholdt about his Echo, Ryan remembers a similar feeling-- being very, very tall, looking down on people below him and... running. In this memory, he feels invincible. He heard the roar of something loud, but with all the other noises around him, it doesn't register. Even being shot at can't stop him. Why's he being shot at though...?


• 5th Echo- Memory: Reiner's nickname for Bertholdt, "Bertl."
  After meeting Bertholdt in person for the first time Ryan calls him "Bertl" without really realizing it or understanding why. It just feels natural to say.


• 6th Echo- Memory: Being crushed by the Female Type Titan, and surviving.
  After talking to Ellie on the network and being told his powers were, well, titan-like, Ryan remembers being crushed by the Female-Type Titan's fist, and breaking free. Not only that, but he distinctly remembers carving something in her hand and healing himself on the way down. So he's always had these powers, it seems...


• 7th Echo- Memory: A feeling kinship with Bertholdt.
  After letting Bertholdt know he worried about him, Ryan remembers feeling a strong bond with Bertholdt, specifically the feeling that only Bertholdt truly understood him. This is a callback to "we're all short-lived mass-murderers, right? Aside from us, who else would be able to understand?"


• 8th Echo- Memory: The feeling that he's known Bertholdt for most of his (past) life.
  After watching Bertholdt steam adorably during their first date, Ryan remembers feeling completely comfortable around Bertholdt. He feels at home in his company. It's wonderfully familiar.


• 9th Echo- Memory: Annie's name.
  After meeting Ellie in person for the first time, Ryan will note that she really feels more like an "Annie" than an Ellie. The name "Annie" will feel sorta familiar.


• 10th Echo- Memory: Annie's friendship.
  After Ellie tells Ryan that she was the Female-Type Titan, Ryan ironically feels a certain fondness of her, like they're old friends, but that the extent of their friendship was a secret from most people.


• 11th Echo- Object: Scouting Legion/Survey Corps Jacket
  After seeing Alan's sweet Survey Corps jacket, Ryan will go home and find a similar one in his room. Obviously, it's just his size.


• 16th Echo- Memory: 3-Dimensional Maneuvering Gear Mastery
  After talking to Alan about how 3DMG was likely used to kill Titans, Ryan will remember how to use 3DMG gear. But he doesn't know he knows. Nor does he have the gear. So...


• 17th Echo- Memory: The Colossal Titan
  After spending a few nights at Bertholdt's and observing his adorable morning routine, Ryan will find Bertl's slow movements to be reminiscent of the Colossal Titan's. Despite its ghastly inhuman appearance, Ryan will remember he was never afraid of it.


• 19th Echo- Memory: Running from the Scouting Legion
  After spending time close to the Tuning Towers, Ryan regains some of his memories of being chased by the Scouting Legion (with Bertholdt and Eren on his shoulder.) He won't remember any of the reasons why, but at least now he'll finally remember what the Armored Titan looks like.


• 20th Echo- Memory: Eren's first shift
  After breaking Alan out of his 'papoose', Ryan remembers the shock of seeing Eren's come out of his Titan form for the first time in Trost. Bertholdt, Annie and Jean were present for this as well.


• 22th Echo- Memory: "Why did you join the military?"
  After trying out Annie's 3DMG and pulling off some of his old moves, Ryan remembers the talk he and Bertholdt had with Eren about the reasons they'd each signed up for the military. Bertholdt's talk of their village, his own strong desire to return at all costs and Eren's borderline-obsession with slaughtering the titans. Not to mention some fear at that particular bit.


• 24th Echo- Memory: "We were just dumb kids who didn't understand anything."
  After arguing with Tavia about kids threatening to kill cops, Ryan remembers THE BIG REVEAL and how deathly terrified/guilty he felt at that moment. "I'm the Armored Titan. Bertholdt is the Colossal Titan. Ten years ago... we were just dumb kids who didn't understand anything." He won't remember what they did exactly, but he knows it was bad.


• 25th Echo- Memory: "Marry me, Christa"
  After meeting Chloe for the first time, Ryan will remember that she was... a goddess. Not literally, but damn. He also remembers wanting to marry her. (What the hell?)


• 26th Echo- Memory: Getting flipped by Annie
  After getting flipped by Ellie, Ryan remembers being flipped by Annie, and the fact that she, Reiner and Bertholdt were old friends, even in their training days.


• 28th Echo- Memory: Jean's speech, and protecting Bertholdt from Mikasa's wrath.
  After being defended by Jamie and hearing him talk Alan down, Ryan will recall Jean's speech to him and Bertholdt while they were being chased by the Scouting Legion. "We were friends, weren't we?" Though he won't remember Bertholdt's response.
